You may have noticed the addition under “Links.” Your CFF license number will stay with you until the CFF decides to change their system. You should have received a sheet with the information, but in case you can’t read the number or forget what it is, just click the link on our website.

The Matadors had another good showing at the second tournament of the season. Our two sabreurs, in their first tournament of the season, both did quite well and learned a lot. Both got points on their opponents, and did well in the DEs - all after only a couple of months of learning sabre. Good job, guys!
The next tournament is the Wheatland Open, in Moose Jaw. Look for more information, including how you can help make this year’s tournament a success. It is expected that all competitive fencers will enter events at the Wheatland Open.

Since Jennifer can’t take people to the open fencing in Saskatoon, we have the opportunity to fence with the club in Swift Current. They fence on Saturdays at 2, so we would leave Moose Jaw shortly after noon on Saturday. You will need to let Jennifer know by Wednesday if you plan to come.

Congratulations on a good showing at the first tournament of this year! Only two Matadors attended the Northwestern Open in Prince Albert, but several other clubs had only a few members attend.
A special congratulations to Sean, who did the Matadors proud at his first tournament. His poule contained 3 of the 4 medalists, yet he got points on almost everyone. Then he won his first DE match. Then Sean won the respect of one of the top fencers in Canada, when they squared off in the next DE bout. Congrats!
The next tournament is the Militia Open, on November 17 and 18 in Saskatoon. Early-bird entry deadline is 10:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8. More info to come.

The first provincial tournament of the season is almost here! Northwestern Open, in Prince Albert, will be held October 20-21 at SIAST Woodland Campus. Early-bird entry deadline is 10 pm (2200), Thursday, October 11. After that point, the registration costs more. You must have completed your team and SFA registration before entering.
The schedule of events, and more info is here. I will bring registration forms to practice on Tuesdays. If you are going to this tournament, Jennifer needs to know asap, since car pooling and accommodations need to be worked out.

There are lots of things happening over the summer. The SFA is running camps during the summer (see the SFA site for more details). The Salle is running strength training on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If you can’t make the trip to Saskatoon, see the training program for working out in Moose Jaw.
